While most people use a rake, and a few old timers dig them up by feeling with their toes, I do it civilized. I lay down on a float and feel for them with my hands. Although this does cause some nasty cuts and an occasional crab pinching, it is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours. I cook them Portugese style. Lightly oil a disposable turkey pan. Preheat the oven to 375. Stack the quahogs smile side up. On top of the quahogs slice up some garlic, chunk up some chorizo, slice up some jalapeno, or anaheims depending on heat preference drizzle white wine and bake til they open. Serve with a big loaf of Portugese bread for sopping up the liquid. Serve an ice-cold bottle of Vinho Verde or beer and enjoy.

WWBob

PS. Yes I too can cook.
